Regency Day Dress and Bonnet

Description

Regency Day Dress.
This dress among being a very useful day dress was a practice for my evening gown, which I might have WIP photos for soon.

I used a La Mode Bodice (crossover), and the Sense & Sensibility Skirt; this because the La Mode Skirt is unreasonably big.

The Bodice was made with a cotton lining. It is pleated at the front and has a drawstring around the neck. At the back, it buttons with four buttons (I am planning to make that five though). I had some trouble with this as the bodice for some reason over lapped about 4", so I had to fold under a significant amount.
The bodice attaches to a waistband which (though not in the pattern) I added a facing to.

The sleeves are pleated at the shoulder and at the sleeve band and have one seam at the central back. I have then attached a false sleeve (my own pattern) which has a gathered frill at its cuff.

The skirt lining for the Simplicity pattern is too small to dance in, so I made duplicate outer skirts instead. The skirt is pleated at the back and attached to the waistband.

The dress is made of a poly cotton blend with a tiny lime and cream check. It is trimmed with olive satin ribbon and cotton lace.

The bonnet is made from a straw cottage bonnet base and trimmed with the same ribbon and cotton lace as dress.

This dress is very easy to move in, though one cannot quite run in it (though no Regency Lady should partake in such an activity anyway).
